Migration from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia has become one of the most controversial issues in European countries. The problem, however, is not where a person comes from or what religion they follow, but whether the state is capable of managing migration effectively and enforcing its laws. When large numbers of people arrive faster than a country can provide housing, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, real social problems can emerge. The situation becomes particularly difficult when some newcomers are unwilling or unable to integrate into the society around them. Crime and public safety are another important issue. If an individual migrant commits a crime, their background should neither excuse nor justify it. At the same time, governments should not ignore statistical differences if certain groups are disproportionately represented among suspects or convicted offenders. Such statistics must be examined in context, including age, sex, socioeconomic conditions, and other relevant factors, rather than being used to condemn millions of people. There can also be cultural conflicts. European countries are based on secular laws, equality before the law, and established civic principles. People who move to Europe have the right to maintain their religion and culture, but that does not give anyone the right to impose their personal rules on others or place religious rules above the laws of the country where they live. The central question, therefore, should not be “Are migrants good or bad?” but rather “Is the migration system working?” Governments have a responsibility to know who is entering their territory, enforce the law, address criminal behavior, and at the same time provide reasonable opportunities for people who genuinely want to work, study, and become part of society. Migration itself does not make someone a criminal. But discussing the problems associated with migration should not automatically be dismissed as racism. A serious debate begins with concrete data, documented violations, and individual accountability — regardless of a person’s background
