I don't even think there should be a conversation around gen ai. it's trash and shouldn't be used in films at all.

My worry is that AI becomes normal through sheer saturation. People get tired of checking every film or defending the same objections, then that exhaustion gets mistaken for acceptance. That’s why reviewers should keep discussing it. “Good film” and “questionable production practices” can both be true.

once i knew ai was being used, even for a tiny bit, it made me question the integrity of other parts of the film. it was quite hard to separate it. cool transitions or stylistic choices suddenly had doubt thrown into them, because if they used ai for a small clip, what else might they have done? even if that's not the case, that small spark of uncertainty ruined it for me, because there's just no way to be sure

I’m very upset about it. The scene is so short and barely adds anything to the overall arch of the film. I just don’t understand why it needed to be used in the first place. I really enjoyed INK but the AI usage and Danny’s avoidance of acknowledging its harm to art makes me disappointed. I can kinda understand the rat part due to PETA’s comments but the rats are hardly in the film so it could have been avoided.

I am so conflicted on it all. I really did like the film but the AI conversation felt like it overshadows the movie itself. In the same boat, not knowing how to talk about it.

Didn’t notice, doesn’t matter to me, and it failed to impact on my enjoyment of the film.

I'm all for good movie/bad movie and bad practice. For me, bad practice makes all the difference on whether I will support a movie or not. AI in a movie, even a little, is a deal breaker.

if this sort of thing sits on the mind before watching the movie, it's going to affect the viewing experience, I think a review that keeps that in mind would be more honest.
it's impossible to leave our minds at the cinema doors, and i don't mind that at all, I put good value in hearing more specific perspectives.

you call it out. theyre testing the waters with it. if they want to imitate AI to make a point they can do it without using AI

I’m a bit cynical about it all in that I think we’ll just end up with a critical mass of films using it that the public won’t even be able to care anymore. It’s depressing for sure but at some point a film openly using it is going to make a load of money and that will be that.

He was talking about the value it had to protect animals from the acting process due to their distress even when it’s emphasised that they’re not in distress. He believes it is a legitimate vfx addition for that reason alone

His excuse it's that he's paying the actors and not replacing them however he doesn't acknowledge that other people are losing jobs that generative ai has taken to cut those costs

It’s one tool among hundreds for artists to use. I’m sure reviewers hated the filmmakers who used color film stock and I know they hated early CGI.
