i love the aroace grace but the reason he doesn’t have anyone is cuz he’s a coward. this is more so showed in the book when stratt details exactly why ryland is alone, and why he’s the type of teacher he is. bc he’s so afraid of any conflict, pain, heartbreak, etc.

Despite me choosing aroace, he stated in the movie that he puts walls up in his relationships. Maybe he wanted to find someone who could break those walls before he got sent to space where he is okay living out his days single and happy having a friendship with Rocky.

I hc he's bi, and with new scene im hc he maybe didn't want kids? getting married in a church and having 2.5 kids living in a home in the suburbs is what a lot of people seem to mean when they say "normal"
