CPI minute candles are genuinely one of the only times the tape stops behaving like a normal order book, the spread blows out and fills land somewhere you never would've expected walking in. Half the "slippage" on days like that isn't even a broker problem, it's just real liquidity vanishing for about 30 seconds. Worth checking if it's one you want to sit out entirely going forward or just size way down for it.
