Nicolas Cage is racing to protect his $10.5 million Malibu beachfront home after a massive sinkhole reportedly expanded toward the property’s front door. The 62-year-old actor moved quickly after the ground collapsed near his home on September 8, filing three permits with city officials in an effort to protect the property. According to Page Six, Cage received permission to place sandbags along the beach and outside the house to help protect against waves and further coastal erosion. Additional permits covered debris removal, excavation, and preparations to reinforce the damaged area. But the situation has continued to deteriorate. The sinkhole was initially reported to measure approximately 30 feet by 30 feet. It has since grown around the side of Cage’s house, swallowing his driveway, part of a privacy fence, ladders, and a portable toilet at a nearby construction site. Firefighters also responded to address a gas leak, although no one was reported hurt. The damage became so serious that Malibu officials ordered a mandatory evacuation and declared all 31 homes on the street unsafe because emergency vehicles could no longer reliably access the area. Cage acquired the approximately 4,000-square-foot property in 2024. The home features ocean views, a rooftop deck, and private beach access. The actor, who reportedly spends most of his time in Nevada, was not believed to be at the property when the sinkhole appeared. He has not publicly commented on the situation. For now, the battle to protect the home continues as the ground threatens to take even more of the property. \#NicolasCage #HollywoodNews #CelebrityNews #Malibu #realestate
