I got out of the Army in 2003, and had extreme foot, ankle, and knee pain. Cushiony shoes and inserts weren't helping. So, while trying out different shoes, I snagged some quality bech shoes...water shoes...slippers....whatever. My knee pain dropped immediately. My amkle and foot pain decreased the more I wore these barely there shoes. In 2008, got my first Vibrams. They were far sturdier than any other barely there shoe I'd come across.
It's 2026, now, and more than 20 years since I switched to barefoot style shoes, and more than 20 years of aging....Yet, my feet, ankles, and knees are in far better shape than when I was 23.
FiveFingers work, if you use them right. It's a shame companies like Nike get away with spouting anything they want about their shoes, but Vibram had to suffer....kind of....They do make shoe soles for pretty much everyone.
