@seepvast: Chongqing originated from Maoshi.During the reign of Emperor Zhi (127–200 AD), the Eastern Han Dynasty adopted Zheng Xuan's annotations on the "Odes of Lu".This lasted until the Southern Song Dynasty. In the first year of the Longxing reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1163), Emperor Xiaozong Zhao Shen enfeoffed his second son Zhao Dun as Prince Gong of Gong Prefecture. After Emperor Xiaozong abdicated the throne, Zhao Dun, who had previously been made Prince Gong, ascended the throne. In the 16th year of the Chunxi reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1189), after Emperor Guangzong took power, drawing on the Mao Commentary on the Book of Songs and Zheng Xuan's annotations, he elevated Gong Prefecture, his former fief, to the status of a prefecture-level administrative unit and named it Chongqing Prefecture.He alluded to the story of Duke Xi of Lu, who revitalized the State of Lu, reclaimed its territory and brought all surrounding tribes into submission.
