Stuff like this just makes me understand why people came up with so many mystical concepts before we advanced in science and technology. If I were a medieval peasant and saw something like this I’d automatically assume it’s a supernatural phenomenon and nothing natural. Even if science can’t quite explain yet why this looks the way it does and what exactly needs to happen to replicate it we know at this point that many bizarre things can be eventually explained through the scientific method. When we can’t explain something it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to understand: it’s just difficult to test with our current abilities.

a few days ago we had a massive thunder storm in southern ontario- for hours i watched the flashes and 1/3 of them lit the top section of the clouds the same color red. I didnt see that before.

The area and what could be in the air could be a clue. In theory whatever causes red neon lights to be red could be in the atmosphere in the areas that the lighting hits but it’s only visible in high concentrations cause when the element/compound is in a neon light’s glass it can’t move away so only needs a small amount of said element/compound
