@judyhuboundarycoach: Generational trauma to women’s bodies lives in our bones. R*pe culture is a reflection of a bigger dynamic: the system of domination. Part of colonization's strategy is to invade boundaries of land and bodies, especially female bodies. Based on epigenetics, this generational harm to women’s bodies lives in our bones: this memory of objectification, non-consent, and powerlessness. In my weekly group coaching program, a Cycle Breaker brings in an obstacle to their goal. Together, we find the dynamic in order to neutralize it and find the next right step. When we look at Cornell and watch the vulnerable posts from others, we are seeing the proof that "collective trauma decontextualized looks like culture" (Menakem). Locating the dynamic underneath these events isn’t about absolving guilt or excusing harm — it’s about understanding why abuse happens across universities, homes, and parties worldwide: a dynamic of domination, objectification, and the refusal to attune to someone else’s body as being as important as one’s own. When we vilify one another, we repeat the domination: one group is better than another. When we stop vilifying each other long enough to name the elephant in the room: rape, alcoholism, gun violence, and houselessness are symptoms. The root cause is a system of domination — and if we can channel our collective rage at the system instead of at each other, we actually have a chance to shift it. Shifting a system this large starts with the one nervous system you actually have control over: your own. If you’re ready to do that work — regulating out of old survival patterns, breaking inherited cycles, building boundaries that hold even inside a system like this — that’s exactly what we do inside Cycle Breakers.
