If it’s really M57 then probably your problem is the previous owner unfortunately. My M57D30 is from 2002 and have 433k/km with oil changes every 9-10k, not 12-14k like 90% people say, this is the most important thing in these engines, and because of that level of care, I am still running on the factory timing system with its original chain from 2002.
