Kennedy Jr. announced a healthcare fraud crackdown to prevent improper or duplicate health coverage enrollments that would save over $1 billion in payments during a press conference on Wednesday. The HHS secretary said Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) identified and removed 189,000 subsidized enrollments involving Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP enrollments for deceased persons or duplicate enrollees. Is this man saying you can’t have a secondary insurance? Cause that’s absolutely not true. You also cannot get double paid via insurance because it’s fraud (called double dipping) and would be flagged expeditiously…..I work in medical billing.

I was a county worker in CA for about 9 years. There were reports the state would send about having Medi-Cal/MediCaid in another state. We would need to determine where they lived. If they moved to another state we would discontinue their Medi-Cal in CA. If someone passes away and the state knows the systems will auto-discontinue Medi-Cal. It would be interesting to see what he means. We won’t find
