@faniarecords: Continuing our Hispanic Heritage Month spotlights, we’re revisiting OUR LATIN THING (NUESTRA COSA), Fania’s landmark 1972 film, directed by Leon Gast, that captured the pulse of New York’s barrios and Latin music scene at a defining moment for salsa music. Featuring the Fania All Stars’ historic Live at the Cheetah concert, which marks its 55th anniversary this year, the film showcases a remarkable gathering of Latin music talent under the musical direction of Johnny Pacheco, featuring legends like Ray Barretto, Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe, Cheo Feliciano and many more Fania legends. Rare footage, including scenes from the soundcheck, captures the energy of a musical movement taking shape. Rooted in Afro-Caribbean traditions and shaped by life in New York, the music reflected the experiences, struggles, and pride of a generation of Latinos in the city. More than a documentary, OUR LATIN THING preserves a defining chapter in Latin music history and an enduring expression of Latino culture and identity that continues to resonate across generations. 🎥 You can watch the full film, now restored to HD, on Fania’s YouTube channel — link in bio. #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatinxHeritageMonth #OrgulloHispano #FaniaRecords #FaniaAllStars #OurLatinThing #LiveAtTheCheetah #LiveAtTheCheetah55
