@dr_mohamed_qalaf: 🧠 FACIAL NERVE PALSY (BELL’S PALSY) Have you ever noticed someone whose face suddenly becomes asymmetric or whose mouth deviates to one side? 👀 Facial nerve palsy occurs when the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) is affected, causing weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles. 🔍 Common symptoms include: * One-sided facial weakness or drooping. * Difficulty closing one eye. * Deviation of the mouth. * Difficulty smiling or showing facial expressions. * Changes in taste or increased sensitivity to sound in some cases. ⚠️ Important: Sudden facial weakness may be a sign of a stroke. Seek immediate medical assessment, especially if accompanied by arm or leg weakness, speech difficulties, or other neurological symptoms. 💡 Bell’s palsy is a common cause of acute unilateral facial paralysis, but other causes must be excluded. Early medical evaluation is essential because corticosteroid treatment can be most effective when started within 72 hours in eligible patients. 👨⚕️ Early diagnosis. Appropriate treatment. Better recovery. Dr. Mohamed Qalaf, MD, FEBN Consultant Neurologist 🧠 #facialnervepalsy #somalitiktok🇸🇴 #mogadishu #foryou #fyp
