@al.comnews: According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, the individual was a customer at two establishments during the course of three days last week. “The person was a patron at Subway, 7900 Bailey Cove Road in Huntsville, on three consecutive days on Oct. 4, 5 and 6 between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The individual was also a customer at Publix at 12796 Bailey Cove Road Southeast on Oct. 4 between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m.," the agency said. ADPH advised that anyone present at either location during those days or times should check their vaccine status and be aware of any measles symptoms. Common symptoms include a high fever, rash, runny nose, cough and/or red, watery eyes. Measles symptoms usually appear seven to 14 days after infection, and infected individuals can spread the disease to others who are not protected for several days before becoming symptomatic. Most cases originate from international travel, and ADPH advises that individuals get the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine for themselves or their children, especially ahead of international travel.
