Call them and negotiate your interest rate or negotiate a settlement if you are behind.

Nobody wants to listen to old Dave Ramsey but it works. It’s emergency saving ls that keep you out of using credit cards for emergencies.

Make a weekly payment rather than monthly. The micro payments help you to pay less interest over time= pay off faster.

That’s not what a credit card is for, many people still use a credit card like a debit card and don’t spend more on it than they have or pay it off weekly just to get the rewards. Glad you are focused on fixing it, keep it up!!

People saying bankruptcy have a huge point. You want a LEGAL, quick way to get rid of a large amount of debt without ruining your life? The debt industry has Americans diluted into thinking bankruptcy is the end of the world, while it is a quick, fast, legal way to reset your life. Tons of rich people became rich by first declaring bankruptcy. Look into it, seriously.

credit cards should be used for emergency only things. not regular spending. pay 2-3x the minimum payment and it'll disappear quicker, or make the payment 2x per month to reduce interest. there's no quick fixes out of credit card debt. 🤷‍♀️

So, successfully paying off debt does take a change of mindset about what credit cards are for - and they're not for paying for things when you don't have money. The rule of thumb is actually to never charge anything on a credit card if you don't already have the money. So the first step to paying it off is to stop using the cards. Cut them up if you need to. Then there are a couple ways you can go...but mainly you need to find a system that works for you that puts as much money toward paying the cards as possible. Figure out a budget that allows you to save a little bit too. In the future when emergencies arise you don't want to have to charge the cards up again.

Whatever you have left in your checking the night before your next check deposits can be split between savings and debt. Even if it’s $10. Every penny helps!

Where are you at currently? Are you able to make all your payments without using your credit card?

Give your cards to somebody you trust so the temptation to keep using them once they are paid down isn’t there.

People just want to place blame, not accept you are acknowledging that you realize you've gotten yourself into a problem and now you're trying to fix it. For real though contact your CC company and ask what is the earliest date you can pay your bill since they calculate interest based on the average daily balance. The difference is so small at first, but it adds up.

Make multiple payments a month. The more the better because interest is accrued daily. You can make the same amount of total payment a month but your balance will drop faster the more payments you make. Plus you’re more likely to throw a couple extra bucks here and there above the minimum when you make a couple payments a month

The only thing that helped me, was 0% transfers to other cards. And then I paid the minimum and put everything else in a “credit card” HYS account and then when the 0% interest period was over, used that savings to pay it off.

Credit cards are not for incurring debt. If you can't pay the balance every month, don't have it.

The problem is that any help or advice given wouldn’t solve the problem that got you there in the first place. 1. Establish an emergency fund, 2. Cut up all CC’s, 3. Pay off debt smallest to largest. But yeah… fr. Stop spending $$ you don’t have.

Girl I been in the same boat. I’ve only been able to afford monthly payments on my credit cards which we all know accomplishes nothing bc it all goes to interest. I just took out a loan to pay off my cards and I’ll just be paying one bill instead of several. I’m also going to put any extra money I have towards it.
