@hip.edm: @Subtronics @Grammys It’s a fascinating paradox in the music industry: having massive streaming numbers doesn't always guarantee a packed venue. This creator breaks down why the dubstep scene operates differently, highlighting that fans aren't always chasing individual artists—they're chasing the community and the bass. It's proof that for some genres, the collective culture is far more powerful than any single name on a lineup. #dubstep #musicindustry #concerts #edmlifestyle #musicmarketing
I’ve definitely gone to dubstep shows without knowing the artist just cause I love the bass and the music!

Yeah because most of their music is only accessible live, some DJs live music is totally different from what they have released (Sippy, Alison Wonderland) and a lot of material is copyrighted so they can’t post on Spotify. You can only get it live.

I feel like it’s also because a lot of dubstep artist’s actual released music just doesn’t even compare to all the stuff they drop live.

I mean you say community. but what other music type does one release a song. have it played by another artist that same week and they get excited not mad cause of copyright. this community aspect starts at the top

That and dubstep hits differently in person. There is a sense of feeling free and living in the moment. It can kinda be too aggressive on a car ride but there is no other feeling than being at a show, dancing your heart out. Dub is an emotional release.

It has to do with how the music is experienced. EDM sounds best in live settings, such as nightclubs and festivals, whereas hip hop is better suited for listening through headphones and car speakers.
