I have days I wish someone would help me with little stuff…. It’s nice to be able to trust people to help when you need it.

My youngest used to do this a lot. I would redirect her by asking, “Do you need help with x, or do you want me to spend time with you?” Kids get better at recognizing their own needs over time, and if the answer was I need help with x, I’d follow that by saying something like,” Can you show me what you’ve tried, so I can see what’s hard for you?” It helped me better assess her actual needs. And if she said she wanted time with me, I’d offer something like sitting with her while she did whatever she needed to do. I’d also ask her questions about things she likes, so she could connect that way as well.

She is trying to figure out who she can trust. People who won't let her down.

the final week of pre-K I had a student ask me to help tie her shoe. I went and did it. told her I knew you can do it by yourself but I am going to miss helping her with these things. she said "i am going to miss you too, we aren't going to be able to do this in kindergarten"

It feels nice to be taken care of, even as an adult. My 2y/o is very clever and can do lots of things for himself when non-mama ppl are around. Sometimes he wants me to do everything little thing for him. So I pick him up, we have a few minutes of cuddles and one-on-one time, then he's usually good to be his independent self again. He asks for attention in the way he knows how

Now, if you’re there trying to teach your child that it is OK to ask for help is a good thing because a lot of especially females will not ask for help because nine times out of 10 you don’t get it or you have to ask for it several times before you can get the help so you just try to do it yourself but how the mom was making it sound like the little girl was doing it all the time so she can get the attention but sometimes it is like that but other times it’s that they seriously need help and it doesn’t matter if you’re raising a weakling child or a strong headache independent child asking for help is OK every now and then
