@phiwa.the.long.vi: We know Shaka for his wars. But have we ever questioned his political thinking? Why did he bring different chiefdoms under one authority? Was it unity, security, expansion, or a strategy to consolidate power? His kingdom survived his assassination in 1828, but his rise also came with conquest, resistance and displacement. What fascinates me is not simply what uShaka achieved, but WHY he made those decisions. Was unity his vision, or was unity his strategy? #southafrica #History #africa #zulutiktok #fyp

He understood the enemy strategy which is divide and conquer therefore, he used Unity to build power and finally won the battle.

All three are interlinked. I think at first it was about security, and then expansion came with power. Power brought alliances, and then unity became His priority. just thinking 😊

I think like Dingiswayo of imiThethwa, he was influenced by Tembe/Mabhudu. Remember Mabhudu stretched all the way from Maputo to Northern KZN.

Shaka grew up KwesakwaMthethwa under king Godogwana known as Dingiswayo. Dingiswayo survived the attack from his father and ran to Mozambique where he became the servant of the Portuguese. He witnessed them attacking kings and taking their land. He noticed that they were not United and that made it easier to be conquered. Dingiswayo told Shaka about white people who will come through the sea and the need to unite in order to fight them when time comes.
