A handmade gift is someone taking their time, effort, creativity, and love and putting it into something for another person. Not every handmade gift has to become a family heirloom to be meaningful. And honestly, the fact that someone took the time to make something for you should mean more than whether it meets your personal standards of craftsmanship. But how are we grown adults coming on the internet criticizing someone else’s handmade gifts. Hella weird. Being talented is wonderful. Being gracious enough not to belittle someone else’s, even better ❤️

My (now ex) boyfriend gave me a handmade gift for our first Christmas. He was a dumpster diver, former homeless. We are thrifty and creative! We love making stuff but the first gift was a not very usable box that was painted and had shit glued to it. I said I loved it bc he made it and gave it to me, but it was hard to use, partially broken, not well done, just overall more of a burden than anything I liked. I put it high on my desk shelf until we broke up and gave him back all his shit in that little box. So idk maybe it served its purpose in the end.

my roomate, and older brother's best friend of 13 years passed last month, i talked to the guy's girlfriend and I offered to make a quilt or hoodie out of any clothes of his she doesnt plan on wearing, she was definitely on board and ill hopefully be doing something with it soon
