@777tabletennis: The truth behind the China Smash flash controversy! 📸 At 3-3 and 10-9 in the deciding game of the final against Lin Yun-Ju, Sora Matsushima stopped play after noticing a camera flash in the crowd. With no flash visible on the livestream, some fans accused Sora of making it up to disrupt his opponent’s rhythm. Others blamed Chinese spectators for deliberately interfering. Now, newly surfaced footage confirms that the flash was real. And in an unexpected twist, the flashes came from two junior table tennis players from Chinese Taipei, who reportedly activated their phone flashes accidentally while filming the match. Their team has since issued a formal apology.

Although the student from a Taiwanese TT club has apologised on Facebook, claiming it was an accidental mistake, they should still be banned from attending future events. WTT must also implement measures to prevent cameras from being operated at critical moments during matches.
