@etherean.mission: The God colonialism gave us was somewhere above the clouds. The God our ancestors recognised was present in everything. Brother Ishmael Tetteh contrasts the imported image of a distant God with an African spiritual understanding of God as the wholeness of Life itself, present in nature, in community and in all existence. That understanding shaped how we treated the land, the water and one another. It reflected the spirit of Ubuntu: our lives are bound up with one another. In Brother Ishmael’s words, everyone for everyone, and God in all. And perhaps that is the deeper loss. When spiritual values disappear, human values follow. Eventually, money becomes the measure of everything. Africa did not only lose her traditions. We slowly forgot how we understood Life itself. #AfricanSpirituality #AfricanTheology #NigeriaTikTok #BrotherIshmaelTetteh #EthereanMission
