This story is a good example of how financial instability/job change can ruin a family dynamic

If she has another child she won’t be parenting alone again, she will be parenting alone STILL. Another child will stress this family to a breaking point.

I feel extreme guilt for not giving my son a sibling. My ex-husband started failing me during pregnancy. I knew that I wouldn't have another.

Can i also share a story, except its from the oldest daughter’s perspective and it’s about seeing everything that my mom went through?

People always assume their kids will be happy and healthy and yet they still want to bring them into these unhealthy dynamics. It strikes me as incredible selfish.

If this woman wasn’t 36, I would assume this is my mother’s story.

She already has two kids. But one is in his 30s. If he’s just now getting diagnosed, it will take a few years for him to figure out how to do Life. And he needs to figure that out on his own.

going from one to 2, in that kind of relationship is a lot. my husband works a lot and out of town regularly, but the schedule is irregular. Our second kid felt so much harder. I don't regret it, but it's a lot

Dang, I would make him keep applying for a closer better position. There are women that have babies in their 40s.

I feel like the answer is whether she is willing to be single mom of 2 - the child wish should assume that he would not parent even a little

Halfway through this I had to rewind for OP's details just to make sure it's not my sister. I don't know what to do to help her.

even good marriages can go through rough patches. This sounds like they love each other a lot.

I am always touched by how insightful these women are! I want to tell every mom who has a kid younger than three, it got so much easier and better for me. The baby and toddler years are so difficult on the marriage, moms, everything. I turned the corner when my youngest turned 4. I hope she can hang in there and things improve.

Have your second baby. It’s all on you and you will hold it down. In another 30 years you will look back and be grateful for your two adult children.

I have a narcissistic sister that is worse than an enemy. I wish I was an only child. 💔

If he requires this much of her than I don't see how love could be enough. That second child will inevitably erode that love into resentment as she will become burnt out and exhausted carrying the weight alone, trying to chase him down, draw him in for long enough to explain what being an adequate partner and father looks like. i don't believe there is enough love in the world that a woman can experience l if she is carrying the weight of managing a household, raising children, finances, her own well being, along with her apparently child like partner's well being. She is asking for more work while being destroyed by doing the work alone. Heartbreaking all around.
Also a sibling experience that destroys the mother isn't worth it.
I would have chosen to be an only child if it meant my mother would have had more space, time, patience and financial support to care for my childhood experience.
Signed, an autistic ADHD "single" mother.
