A 1250 on the SAT received between 9/30/1974 to 1/31/1994 qualifies for membership in Mensa. It was a completely different test back then.

980 wasn’t that bad? I beg to differ. 1100-1200 was a decent score. A very good score in the mid 90s was 1300+

1997 (I think) PSAT score 1470, national merit finalist. 1998 SAT 1st try 1350, 2nd try 1440: multiple BS/MD programs and an Ivy. Today's kids have it ROUGH.

When they used to subtracts points for questions you got wrong and 1600 actually meant getting every single question correct. I got a 720 in English is 94 and that probably would have been perfect now.

1310 sat, top 10% of class, multiple APs w good scores, many leadership roles, freakin pharmacy tech part time for years and still rejected from the only (lower tier) Ivy to which I applied. I’m still salty 35 years later.

I took it in 1987 or 1988 and got 690 math and 510 verbal for 1200. Graduated #9 out of about 407 kids. Took a full academic scholarship to my state college.

My son in 8th grade just got 1120 on the 8/9 PSAT, obviously first try, never seen the type of test before. 96th percentile, seems promising? We didn’t know what to expect.
