@eastcoastfarrier: HORSE OWNERS: HOW OFTEN DOES YOUR HORSE SEE THE FARRIER? 🐴👀 We're back at HomeFarm at Undermountain Road in Lenox, Massachusetts, and today I'm working with another handsome fellow who's become part of the family here. One of my favorite things about visiting this nonprofit farm is seeing how well these horses are cared for and the new purpose they've been given. ❤️ This boy is on a regular 6-week hoof trimming schedule, and today we're starting with his first front foot. As always, before I pick up my tools, I'm showing you what I see. We're looking at hoof growth, toe length, heel position, hoof wall, wear patterns and overall hoof balance. Then I'll talk you through what I'm removing, what I'm leaving alone, and WHY. One thing I've learned over my years as a farrier is that regular hoof maintenance makes a difference. A consistent trimming schedule gives us the opportunity to monitor changes in the feet and address developing imbalances before they become bigger concerns. Of course, not every horse needs the exact same schedule. Hoof growth, conformation, workload, environment and individual needs all play a role. Whether you own a horse, pony, miniature horse or draft horse, understanding horse hoof care, barefoot hoof trimming, healthy hooves, proper hoof balance and how often horses need their feet trimmed is an important part of responsible horse ownership. We're finishing up the first front foot in this video, and we'll continue with the next foot in Part 2! If you'd like to learn more about the wonderful work being done at Home Farm at Undermountain Road, or find out how you can support this nonprofit organization, visit: https://www.homefarmundermountain.org/ 👇 HORSE OWNERS: What's YOUR farrier schedule—every 4, 6, 8 weeks, or something different? And what determines that schedule for your horse? I'd love to hear your answers! #farrier #hoofcare #hoof #horses ##equestrian

Depends on how quickly they grow. My mare needs 4 weeks in summer, but can get away with 6 in the winter.

Depends on horse and what you're doing with them. In winter where it's cold they don't grow as much. Too many factors
