Learners taking Quranic Arabic classes at the mosque, or students learning the literary translation of Arabic script will know: in the Arabic language, the script for God consists of the article "al" - ال -, meaning "the", and the Arabic word "ilâh" - إِلَاه -, meaning god. Today's Arabic-speaking Christians have no other word for "God" than "Allah". The Maltese language, which descends from Arabic and is spoken on the island of Malta where the population is almost entirely Catholic, also uses "Allah" for "God". For greater understanding: the terms Allah, Allaha, Elah, Eloh, Eloah are one and the same Semitic word meaning GOD.
