@karl.franzzz: The Austria-Hungary Empire, also known as the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, was a dual monarchy in Central Europe that existed from 1867 to 1918. It was established by the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, which granted the Kingdom of Hungary equal status with the Austrian Empire. The empire was ruled by the Habsburg dynasty and was a constitutional union of two sovereign states with a shared foreign policy, military, and financial system. As a massive, multi-ethnic empire, it was home to diverse populations, including Germans, Hungarians, Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Ukrainians, Romanians, Serbs, Croats, and Italians. These deep ethnic tensions and nationalistic rivalries constantly threatened its internal stability. The empire collapsed at the end of World War I following its defeat as one of the Central Powers. Its dissolution led to the creation of several independent modern states, including Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and parts of Poland, Romania, Italy, and Yugoslavia. #History #geography #borders #game #austria
