The current one piece fanbase, such as the people who fester on twitter or piratefolk, is just so reactionary to weekly chapters that they say anything to hate on it or come up with some weak ass slander. Not because they believe the story has actually “fell off” or that the current arc is bad but I believe it’s mainly because most just want to hate on it and it’s about less discussing genuine criticism. Most of the slander is just Hiveminded copy and pasted BS with very little thought put into it. People will say things like “the straw hats post timeskip have no development!” and just ignore the fact that the story isn’t over yet and any development may just be coming in a future arc or just straight up ignore any development e.g robins fight in wano because it doesn’t fit their agenda. (You could argue that some straw hats have had less development than others in recent years but I just personally disagree) You can hardly argue with these people because they just want to live off the nostalgia of pre timeskip and pretend it’s just a completely different anime that was perfect. Most of the things they say are contradicting, for example, recently in elbaf, MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD, when Luffy punched the villain there were riots about “Oda can’t write final villains! Why is the final villain being punched?” As if final villains in a story are just supposed to be invincible. And then when luffy was stabbed by imu there was an outrage, people complaining that luffy is too weak of a main character. Then when luffy and the guys managed to fight back, there was outrage of asspull this, no stakes that, as if they weren’t just angry over Luffy getting stabbed before. It is because you can’t please the people complaining and it’s a dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t kind of situation. Obviously there could’ve been different people holding these different viewpoints, but the point is that it’s a dumb criticism. A final villain can take damage and the protagonist can be stabbed and the context that surrounds both of the situations made sense. And so both of these criticisms were probably just from individuals who wanted to get mad. So the point of this video is to show that this is probably how these same people would “slander” arlong park if it came out today. Because most of the things these people are just a bunch of nonsense. I won’t sit here and pretend that the story of one piece is perfect or that every single thing said by these people is just automatically invalid. I just personally don’t agree with any of the things that they say most of the time but you can have discussions about the story and any problems you have with it but I’m just saying I think the majority of it, especially from some communities, is as I’ve said less from a place of wanting to discuss the writing of a story and more from a place of just pure agenda.
