As a former CPS investigator, at least in MI, they do not have anywhere near the authority nor the people properly trained to do that. This is sketchy as hell.

The phrasing “keep families intact safely” is, in my opinion, the scariest part of this. Does this mean that the agency will essentially spy on families to determine whether or not they’re “safe”? Will those families be notified? Is there a requirement that there be a case or investigation in order to use that equipment? Or can they just spy on anyone they determine to be potentially “unsafe” on the basis of things like race, religion, family size, non traditional parenting choices, sexual orientation, etc? Horrifying.
