The amount of time they stayed is crazy. Did the husband not question the cost for that long? Just the length of time and extending it is a red flag.

something was going to happen that she didn't want her husband to know about..she kept delaying them leaving, may or may not have had the funds and then when she knew there was no other option but to leave, she did what she did..just my theory
