I think most of the energy people like her invest in repeatedly broadcasting this is about stigma management, specifically Goffman's definition of stigma as contagious and identity spoiling. Not to avoid the contagious stigma against trans people, but to avoid feeling any shame for their preferences and to create/preserve a bubble in which their preferences are righteous. I suspect they find the journal suggestion particularly inflammatory because what is more shameful than something you only admit to your diary?
