@krischan_peltier: On January 30th, 2011, Amtrak unveiled the first of its 40th anniversary paint schemes at its shops in Beach Grove, Indiana. Rolling out of the paint booth was a General Electric P42DC locomotive wearing Amtrak’s iconic Phase III livery, AMTK 145. Nearly sixteen years later, on a rainy October night, we stand by milepost 696 on Union Pacific’s Provo subdivision, as AMTK 145 appears at the end of a straightaway, leading the westbound California Zephyr through a series of grade crossings near downtown Springville.
