@medeabenjamin: What can the U.S. learn from China’s fight against poverty? :cn: Nearly 800 million people lifted out of extreme poverty. Entire communities transformed through investments in housing, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. China made poverty alleviation a national priority. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to pour enormous resources into war while millions struggle to meet their basic needs. What if we invested in people instead? 😳 China practises "Socialism With Chinese Characteristics" ; so it is NOT what most people think in their minds !
It is based on Meritocracy, Consultative Democracy, Constructive freedom and Equality for all the people of the country ! 😌

I read that China mobilised > 2 million party cadres to all the regions, provinces, districts & villages affected by poverty including abject poverty. These cadres were tasked to study the root causes of poverty and made recommendations on the measures required to alleviate poverty, including road access, internet access, other crops that could yield higher returns, relocation of homes to places with jobs available, etc, etc. It was a targeted poverty alleviation program, on a case to case basis, depending on the circumstances of each case. Very practical & wise approach.
it's because they are Marxist leninist communist. I wish more people would start using the word communist to describe it accurately, though I understand it's still very scary

this is great but there are some details that need to be given: were the loans to buy homes interest free? were the houses built on govt owned land, were people forced out of their homes for these roads/apartments to be built. how do the tenants of the houses finance electricity/rents/water bills etc.
