@browneyedgurl801: Nearly 600 adoptions left this animal shelter empty after 47 years. Pet adoption in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, had never gone this far. The Adams County SPCA had not seen its shelter empty once in 47 years. Then, right before Christmas, the staff walked through and found no animal left waiting. Only one stray cat came in afterward. In plain words, nearly 600 animals found a home in a single year at one Pennsylvania shelter. Dogs, cats and smaller pets all went to new families. The shelter also returned 125 lost animals to their owners. That is how an empty shelter happens: one adoption at a time, until the last cage is open. Sources: CBS News, Adams County SPCA
