Spookitchu :
Do I code? No. Did I know what terraforming is? No. Did I just learn what terraforming is from a cat? Yes.

Terraform, Helm, and Bicep. If you can demonstrate understanding of these, it's the fast track into a service engineering job where you run circles around click ops.

I build all my greenfield environments with terraform. Takes me about 10 minutes to edit another 10 to run and i bill 4-8 hours

Yes! Infrastructure as code, and what I’m starting to call administration as code. With AI agents being trusted with more and more access, you need to get comfortable with reading and applying changes in text format, not just via UI

Terraform/opentofu is amazing. Add in ansible for networking gear and inside os setup. Then have a ci pipeline setup with GitHub actions and atmos.tools (amazing tool to help automate iac) and all of this for free to learn. 🥰

I mean I learned how to defrag the disk when I was like 8 on our windows 98 or whatever, but I think I'm a little behind now. 😂

Been in IT for about 15 years. I’ve gotten more jobs because I know Terraform than anything else. It’s a pain to set up but when it works it always feels like magic.

Floci is a great resource for learning terraform without having to set up the cloud infrastructure!
