@browneyedgurl801: On July 4, 2000, professional wrestler Scott “Bam Bam” Bigelow became a real-life hero when he rescued three children from a burning building near his home in the Asbury Park area of New Jersey. Bigelow was known for his flame tattoo and his large 400-pound frame. When he heard children crying from the burning structure, he did not hesitate to help. He ran inside the building to find them. The fire had already spread through the upstairs area. At one point, Bigelow had to break through an interior wall so he could reach the children and find another way to get to the stairs. “I heard kids crying,” Bigelow later said. “I went through the door, and the whole upstairs was on fire. I had to run through a wall in the house... so I could get to the back way to get up the stairs.” Bigelow managed to get all three children out safely. However, he suffered second-degree burns over about 40% of his body. He needed a long hospital recovery, which kept him away from professional wrestling for an extended period. Looking back on the rescue, Bigelow said, “It was the best move I ever made.”
