@rap: New York City's horse-drawn carriage industry is coming to an end‼️👀 Mayor Zohran Mamdani & City Council Speaker Julie Menin have reached an agreement to phase out one of New York’s longest-running tourist attractions after 168 years, with a final City Council vote scheduled for October 22nd. The proposed legislation would phase out Central Park’s horse-drawn carriages by June 2028, protecting the horses by requiring them not to be sold for slaughter or transferred to another carriage business and supporting carriage drivers with their transitions into new jobs.
