@crmnallyobsessed: A former Chicago homicide detective is now linked to the murder of an 8-year-old girl more than 65 years ago. Gloria Kowalewicz was walking to church for morning Mass on November 12, 1960, when she vanished just blocks from her home. Four hours later, her body was discovered in a ditch in a southwest Chicago forest preserve. She had been shot to death. Now, more than six decades later, Chicago Police say DNA and fingerprint evidence link her murder to Thomas F. McInerney Jr., a former Chicago police homicide detective. McInerney Jr. joined the department in 1959, just one year before Gloria was killed, and went on to investigate violent crimes. Using advances in forensic technology, investigators matched DNA recovered from preserved evidence and a fingerprint found on Gloria's purse to McInerney Jr. McInerney Jr. died in 2006. Now, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office is working to identify other criminal cases McInerney Jr. may have been involved in. 🗣️: @kristinthorne #ChicagoPolice #ColdCase #TrueCrime #DNAEvidence #UnsolvedMurders

Don't they fingerprint the police officers they could've easily matched it to one of their own right then I think there was a cover-up
