@kellykilleenmd: "Having just one operation made me feel very taken care of." 💕 For this patient, direct-to-implant reconstruction meant leaving the operating room with her breasts. At the time of her mastectomy, we placed her final implant, wrapped in a mesh scaffold for support. No tissue expanders, and no period without a breast at all. After her reconstruction, she went on to radiation, which can be hard on an implant. She did wonderfully, and her result remains soft and natural. Every patient's journey is unique, but making the path through cancer treatment a little simpler is always the goal.
