@danielle_gj: Not you thinking somebody called because they missed you, and apparently you were participating in an unofficial information-gathering interview. 😭 This is one reason I teach the Handler role in The Toxic Ecosystem. Sometimes information doesn’t travel directly between the people involved. It travels through someone who appears neutral, concerned, or helpful. They ask how you’re doing. Whether you’re still upset. What you’re planning. If you’ve spoken to a certain person. And later, details from that conversation somehow make their way back to the very person you were trying to establish distance from. Of course, not every check-in has a hidden agenda. But when private conversations repeatedly become information for somebody else’s use, that’s a pattern worth recognizing.
