I think it was Oscar Wilde who said, what’s worse than being talked about? Not being talked about. I’ve heard more offensive jokes from other comedians than what Shane said on SNL. His monologue wasn’t very funny, but there are a lot of people who do find him offensive yet hilarious. And there are some who find him hilarious- some not at all. Some of his jokes are funny, some aren’t. His joke about women at the gym went over like a lead balloon. When comedians are being policed on what they can or not say it’s an attack on freedom of speech. Do I remember all the offensive things that comedians say? No. They are just comedians. Do I remember all the offensive things that politicians and media pundits say? Yes, because their words carry more weight. He’s just a comedian. He’s trying to be funny and get a laugh. His joke wasn’t funny and didn’t get a laugh. I also remember what Liberace said about his critics- they made me cry all the way to the bank.

After looking at your TikTok video, the next one was two lesbians standing in a gym looking at the camera and one of the women says, someone said that Lesbians who lift are worse than gym bros. As she is saying this, the other woman is checking out two women who are walking by, turns back to the camera and says, what was that that said. I thought it was funny, others might find it offensive.

I saw someone talk about how the monologue would’ve been approved by SNL staff. Their viewership numbers have been low, especially because SNL UK is doing well. They knew the impact this comment would have in the wake of the Cornell 7 drama. They let this happen all for the views. I’m loving that no one is letting this slide though!
