@michele_bordonaro: In grief coaching, a powerful question I might ask is: Who taught you that your pain has to be worse than someone else's before you're allowed to ask for help? We often use comparisons to decide if we're "allowed" to struggle, telling ourselves: "Other people have lost more," "I should be handling this better," or "I don't want to take support away from someone who needs it more." But where did you learn that needing support was something you had to justify? Was it something someone said, a role you've always played, an expectation you've carried, or a belief amplified after your loss? What has this belief cost you? Has it kept you from reaching out, from being honest about how you're doing, from allowing someone to care for you, or from giving yourself the compassion you offer others? In grief coaching, we don't just tell you to stop comparing. We explore why that comparison has so much power over you. Recognizing a belief gives you the opportunity to decide if you still want to live by it. You don't have to earn the right to be supported by proving how much you've suffered. Your grief matters because it matters to you. 🤍 Grieve fully. Live fully. Ready to explore these questions in a conversation about your own grief? Schedule a complimentary 45-minute Grief Coaching Discovery Session. We'll discuss what you're navigating and see if my private 8-week grief coaching experience is the right fit.
