Where else on the internet are you going to find someone who will recommend children's books, light novels, steamy romance, and foundational existentialist texts all in the same promo? Anyway, NO EXIT is a brief read and honestly better staged, but it's frankly an incredible character study. If you're a writer and you want to see a stark examination of what people want from each other at a more deep-rooted, primal sort of level, you ABSOLUTELY should read this. The entire premise of the characters' torture is that they all want something from the other characters, and the other characters are perfectly able to tantalize them with just enough to create hope, only for it to be dashed. The tragedy isn't this literal match made in hell, however. It's that none of the three will ever change and grow and escape that cycle. I'm pretty sure the show THE GOOD PLACE is based on this concept, lol WARNING: This is a play that's of its era (1944) and features a lesbian character. Her lesbianism itself is not vilified, but she's in hell for a reason. ...I promise there won't be many of these kinds of recs.
