Exactly, I’m a preschool teacher and yes one main thing we focus on is “hey this person looks upset why do you think that?” We make the look and think about the situation and how do we fix it.

lol what does she mean “girls are somehow socialized?” This isn’t like magic, there a millions of concrete examples of the ways that young girls are expected and rewarded for seeing their role and needs as secondary to boys and men.

My kids are the opposite. My daughter is so intelligent and social, and she has strong emotions and won't hide when she's frustrated. She feels like odds are unfair to her when she is disappointed. My son is also so intelligent and pretty social, but he's overwhelmed by others easily. He'll tell me about a classmate's meltdown and how he felt confused or overwhelmed by it. Both my kids are incredibly kind and caring, but one feels for others' feelings and the other one doesn't. It's not naturally a gender thing. As my kids prove.❤️

Haha this reminds me of me and my brother! I was 5 and my brother was 8, and my mom was so mad at him for something and he said, “Mom, I didn’t know you were mad??” And I said “All you had to do was look at her!”

We have studies that show a lot of the differences between boys and girls is literally linked to how we treat them. They did an experiment where they showed the same baby showing the same emotion, in boy clothes the baby was perceived as angry. In girl clothes, the baby was perceived as scared. We are stricter on girls because society tells us boys can’t help it. Anecdotally i’ve noticed boys raised in the same way as girls traditionally are tend to be more well behaved, follow instructions, aren’t as destructive etc etc. Same for girl raised more like a boy traditionally is.

My future MIL only had 2 boys and she tells me all the time that parenting boys is HARD and that’s because she was a great mother and it shows in her adult kids.

You know what this couple makes me so sad. I just feel like they are so stuck and sad and sooo fixated on analyzing like you can’t compensate for the worlds ignorance but I could beg this couple to just live be free and I feel like they’d either get defensive and go to denial or just not understand what I’m even asking cause it’s such a unfamiliar concept to them. Does anyone know what I’m saying?
