No they know that. They just don't want to spend anymore money once their kid becomes a "legal adult". Bad, lazy, toxic, parents who just get tired of raising kids get sooo excited when they can legally stop being financially responsible for them and kick then out. And typically if they don't outright kick them out right at 18 they immediately jump to making their kid pay rent/bills, taking on huge responsibilities with little to no guidance, and having them buy everything for themselves right at 18 with zero help. While simultaneously threatening to kick them out over every little minor inconvenience until the kid has enough and leaves the household to struggle on their own. I understand wanting to push your children towards independence and weaning them off of parental support, but it is downright evil to just be like "okay your an adult now, bye, go figure it out like we had to"....

As a mother of 2, who genuinely loves being a mother, my children can stay by my side as long as they need to and I will always be there to help them and make their life easier. Obviously I'm not going to coddle them, pay for 100% of everything throughout their adulthood, and let them use me for everything they don't want to do. But I will offer financial support and advice. I will help them apply for schools, get a car, find good jobs, practice phone calls and writing emails, scheduling their own doctor's appointments and any other adult things they may struggle with figuring out on their own. Being a parent does not end at 18 and the parents who think that way should've never had children. My mom kicked me out at 18 with zero help or guidance and I struggled soooo hard being in the world on my own for the first few years of adulthood. At 18, freshly out of highschool, you stilk think like a teenager because you are one. We as parents need to do more to guide our babies into adulthood instead of sending them out there blindly and setup for failure.
