@sarahjones5886: Ryan Phillippe Recalls the “Wild Night” He and Reese Witherspoon Had at the Oscars 20 Years Ago Ryan Phillippe is looking back at a night he says was “wild.” The 52-year-old actor spoke on Live with Kelly and Mark on Wednesday, Oct. 14. He described the 2006 Oscars, when he and his then-wife, Reese Witherspoon, both had something to celebrate. Witherspoon won Best Actress for playing June Carter in Walk the Line. Moments later, while she was backstage doing interviews, Crash was called for Best Picture. Phillippe’s film had won. “So, to be a couple ... what a wild night that was,” he said. He had been sitting with the Walk the Line group. When Crash was called, he ran to the Crash section and jumped into Ludacris’ arms. Then, he said, Larenz Tate grabbed him. They all went up on stage. Morgan Freeman presented the award. Phillippe had never met him, so he told him, “I’ve always wanted to meet you, sir.” He said it happened while the producer was accepting the award. He called the moment “out-of-body, out-of-mind.” Afterward, he said, they had a fun after-party and stayed up until “probably 5 or 6 in the morning.” The two met at Witherspoon’s 21st birthday party and married in 1999.
