@nursethrivenetwork: Southern comfort food meets fiber and protein! 💚🍲 I made slow cooker collard greens with a 15-bean mix, smoked turkey, red onion, garlic, beef bone broth, and a little coconut liquid aminos. And yes, we’re having cornbread too! 😋 Eating healthier doesn’t mean giving up the foods you love. It’s about balance, nutrition, and sustainable habits. Beans bring the FIBER, smoked turkey brings the PROTEIN, and collard greens bring the NUTRIENTS! Who’s coming over for a plate? 😂💚 #DrFleeta #SouthernCooking #CollardGreens #HighFiberMeals #ProteinRichMeals

Dr. Fleeta's Southern-Style Slow Cooker Collard Greens, 15 Beans & Smoked Turkey Southern comfort food packed with flavor, fiber, and protein. Ingredients 1 package 15-bean soup mix, including seasoning packet 1 smoked turkey leg 1 large bunch fresh collard greens, washed and chopped 1 red onion, diced 2 tablespoons minced garlic ½ teaspoon coconut liquid aminos 2 cups beef bone broth 6 cups water Cornbread for serving Instructions Soak the beans overnight. Drain and rinse thoroughly. Prepare the beans. If the mix contains dried kidney beans, boil them vigorously in fresh water for at least 30 minutes, then drain before slow cooking. Soaking alone is not sufficient for safety. Layer the ingredients. Add the prepared beans to the slow cooker, followed by the smoked turkey leg. Add aromatics. Sprinkle the diced red onion and minced garlic over the turkey. Add liquids and seasoning. Pour in 2 cups of beef bone broth, 6 cups of water, ½ teaspoon coconut liquid aminos, and the seasoning packet from the beans. Add collard greens. Place the cleaned and chopped greens on top, keeping the slow cooker within its recommended fill level. Slow cook. Cover and cook on LOW for approximately 8–10 hours, until everything is tender. Shred the turkey. Remove the leg, discard the bones and skin, shred the meat, and return it to the pot. Serve and enjoy! Pair with a slice of homemade cornbread.
