Seafood, grilled meats, carbs- how can you not love Croatian food? Here I share how much the dishes cost/prices, locations and ratings. I went July 3rd-6th 2026. I am a tourist so it’s highly likely I went to more touristy restaurants and maybe the prices are higher than expected? 😅 Food I had: 1. Pasticada and squid ink risotto at Konobo Kod Joze, Split - very traditional local dishes. The squid ink risotto was delicious, so umami and flavourful. I’m not really a fan of the Pasticada but that is more personal preference. 2. Seafood grilled platter and truffle macaroni at grande Luna in Hvar. It may sound expensive but Hvar is an expensive island to eat on so I actually think the food here was a great deal! The seafood was grilled perfectly. One of the best platters I’ve had. The fish so tender and fresh, totally worth it for me! There are seafood platters in so many restaurants so please try one! The truffle macaroni was also delicious. 3. Cevapi and fried seafood plate in Buza, Zadar. I had a lot of cevapi and they are so good. Essential minced meat rolled into little sausages. So tender and flavourful. The bread here was especially crispy with the soft insides covered in oil. Yum 4. Bureks are a classic in Croatia! Found in every bakery. When it’s warm and fresh it’s so good and flaky and buttery. They are often huge portion sizes and super value for money, often only €3 5. Meat platter and pizza at Tiffany’s in Karlovac. This was on our way up to Slovenia. Meat platters are very typical dishes too and there’s also a lot of pizza restaurants (likely due to close proximity to Italy). Overall we found Croatian food to be fresh and flavourful. It is not the cheapest but also not super expensive (like in London) but I feel like portion sizes were often really big and therefore often quite good value.
