@nzherald: The Air Force has shared pictures from the remarkable rescue of a Hawke’s Bay teenager who spent a night missing in the forest following a school hike. A Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) NH90 helicopter crew spotted the 17-year-old boy on Wednesday early afternoon in the Ruahine Forest Park before winching him to safety. The Taradale High School student had failed to return to a meeting point on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a major search. He had been taking part in a school hike on the popular Sunrise Track. Shortly after the rescue, his relieved father told Hawke’s Bay Today his son was being taken to hospital for checks, but he was conscious and appeared okay. 📸 Royal NZ Air Force 🔗 Get the full story via the link in our bio.
