Legislature in November 2019 with the aim of establishing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the province’s framework for reconciliation. However, the act has since proved controversial over whether it is purely aspirational or has the power to shape laws. The NDP didn't specifically mention DRIPA on its platform website published before the debate. However, in response to questions from the Canadian Bar Association, the party said it would continue to work with First Nations on the path forward for DRIPA. The B.C. Conservatives are unequivocal in their pledge to repeal DRIPA, with Leader Lorne Doerkson stating it has failed to create the security for British Columbians that was intended. The B.C. Greens, in contrast, are vowing to strengthen DRIPA legislation to "remove the uncertainty and opacity that currently exists." what is frustrating is that no one clearly explained that Title cases have nothing to do with DRIPA! So repealing has no influence in addressing publics concerns on their private property. DRIPA has to do with aligning provincial laws with Indigenous rights outlined in UNDRIP.
