Speaking on the House floor September 2, Congressman Seth Magaziner raised alarms about a whistleblower’s allegations that the Trump administration was using the United States Postal Service to build a rushed, inadequately tested system for screening mail ballots against federally approved voter lists. The most disturbing allegation: a single unmatched entry could cause an entire batch—as many as 10,000 ballots—to be held up. The whistleblower warned that eligible voters could be denied access to their ballots because of errors in the system. Magaziner called it an attempt to interfere with the election and urged action to stop it. UPDATE: On September 14, the Supreme Court refused to let the administration enforce the challenged USPS rule while litigation continues, leaving the block in place for the upcoming election.
